Tournament Rules
All Volley Rx tournaments follow USAV Rules & Regulations with the modifications listed below.
Serving & Play Contact
- Doubles are allowed on the 2nd contact as long as the ball remains on your side and is contacted next by a teammate
- Let serves (serves that contact the net and cross to the receiving side) count as legal serves
- Serving order must remain the same throughout a set
- A player may not block a serve coming over the net
- A block touch does not count as one of the 3 contacts
Net & Boundary
- Players may reach over the net to block any attack or attempt to play the ball. Other contacts can only be played once they cross into the plane of the net
- On adjacent courts, players must make contact with the ball before stepping into the other court
- Net contact is legal if the player is not directly involved in the play and the ball has already hit the ground
- A player may legally cross the center line as long as it does not interfere with the opposing side
Match Management
- No timeouts during pool play matches
- Teams get 1 timeout per set during playoff matches
- Substitutions are allowed in between points
- No limit on the number of substitutions per set
- Players must substitute for the same person throughout a match
Sportsmanship
Net Violations, Foot Faults, Center Line Violations, Doubles, and Lifts are all to be called but not argued about for 10 minutes.
"At the end of the day, we're all here playing the game we love with the people we love."
"Don't waste your energy arguing. WASTE IT PLAYING!"
For all disagreements — just replay it.
